Day 14 ::: You will love it or hate it - A Rauchbier

10-20 hectoliters of beer are brewed at this brewery weekly, strictly according to the German Purity Law. The brewery in Zwönitz is located west of Chemnitz, in the heart of the Erzgebirge. The private brewery Zwönitz has been family-owned since its founding in 1997.

The brewery attaches importance to high quality ingredients. So only special malts from the Bamberg Malzfabrik Weyermann are used. In addition, attention is paid to the selection of the hop varieties used.

The brewery gained particular prominence with its fine smoked.This is the only beer, the brewery is exporting.

Interesting. Never had a smoky beer. A little too smoky for me though.

Capturing smoke flavor is hard. It's often too strong or too weak. This hit it just right. Bacon threw me off a little, but this can be forgiven.

Ok I gave this 1 out of 5 stars. Does have a bacon grease like flavor. A great beer to try with its unique flavor.

A strong bitter, dark chocolate flavor that isn't great by itself but not bad with peanut butter M&M's. 😁

I can definitely see this paired with barbecue, as suggested. Not a terrible stand-alone offering, but probably only one per sitting. Wish I had some BBQ right now ....
