Beschreibung
U Sv. Štěpán (microbrewery with restaurant) is located in the Diocesan House of Cardinal Trochta in Litoměřice. This building was built in 1858 as the original seat of the Institute for the Deaf-Mute. In 1925, the building acquired a form, which it then retained for decades. After World War II, the building served the priestly seminary of the diocese of Litoměřice, which eventually moved to Olomouc. Since 2002 the building has been used as a diocesan house and the seat of a pastoral center and a youth center. Company In Principio s.r.o. has been providing accommodation services in the diocesan house since 2010. It is hostel and hotel type accommodation with a capacity of up to 160 beds in rooms of several categories ranging from apartments to simply furnished rooms. In 2015, in cooperation with the Bishopric of Litoměřice, a mini-brewery and a restaurant were built in the diocesan house, which are operated under the name Bishop's Brewery U sv. Stephen. This work aims to build on the tradition of brewing in church houses, which dates back to the tenth century AD, when the first written report on the monastery brewery in Bohemia dates back. The restaurant at the Bishop's Brewery, which is exclusively non-smoking, also offers its hospitality to the clients of the Hostel U sv. Stephen, who can also take advantage of breakfast and other dining options.
