Bierbeschreibung
Since the Viking Age, the tradition of Christmas beer has been strong in Norway. As stipulated in the "Gulatingsloven" (a regional legal text valid until 1274), every farmer was legally obliged to brew beer for Christmas and baptize it according to the new faith, otherwise risking losing his wealth to the king and the bishop. Christmas beer was typically brewed using the best grains of the season and was strong and malt-focused. Nordlands Juleøl (Christmas beer) is a modern version of traditional Norwegian Christmas beer.
Nordlands Christmas beer has a dark mahogany color and a malty aroma with notes of freshly baked whole grain bread, nuts, caramel, and toffee. It is a medium-bodied seasonal beer with a malty taste and a gentle bitterness.
