Dark beer can also be referred to as Bavarian dark beer today. In fact, the dark beer has been around for a long time before the now popular light beer - and it is not inferior to its blonde counterpart. Its dark color is not obtained, as is often assumed, from the original wort. Instead, it depends on the intensity of color of the malt used; this can take on different shades during the brewing process depending on the amount used - and that's how our Nordbräu Dunkel is created.
